The Astoria Downtown Historic District Association (ADHDA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and advance historic downtown Astoria’s culture and character through inspired partnerships and community engagement to support a vibrant and resilient economic future for all Astorians.
ADHDA requires program funding and volunteer support to carry out its mission. ADHDA raises nearly all of its annual budget through membership dues and special events. By supporting ADHDA, you play an important role in keeping your historic downtown district strong and making Astoria a more livable city.
Founded in 1985, ADHDA is an award-winning 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and member of the Oregon Main Street Program and the National Main Street Network. ADHDA has secured several hundred thousand dollars in historic preservation grants for downtown buildings. The organization carries out its mission using the Main Street Approach. We are an award-winning Performing Main Street, and maintain connections with other Main Streets all around Oregon and the Country.
Without ADHDA there wouldn’t be ways to solve problems or celebrate any achievements. This organization has created a cohesive downtown feel; we’re not just individuals here.
At first I thought: “Here I am, a teacher, what can I do? But, it isn’t just about business, it’s about community. ADHDA is my favorite organization to volunteer for.
I love walking down the street, greeting other ADHDA members, and knowing we share the same values – wanting a successful and healthy downtown.
To us it was a no brainer to join the ADHDA – to be part of the downtown business community. This organization lets us know what’s happening and brings us together.
As a lifetime local, I love being part of ADHDA because it keeps me actively engaged with downtown and my community in many different ways.
Through ADHDA I learn information that I need for my business to thrive. Their maps and promotional events – like AstoriUS Day, Art Walk, and Shop Plaid – give my business visibility that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
