July Artwalk welcomes two new original paintings by renowned Oregon oil painter Ron Nicolaides. Known for luminous skies, dramatic seas, and a timeless style inspired by the great landscape masters, Nicolaides captures the beauty and power of the Pacific Northwest in works that invite quiet reflection. Jennifer Goodenberger, North Coast artist, musician & author shares her light-hearted and educational "Dinosauer" books about Astoria, musical genres, and the history of art thru the ages. A childhood love of "dinos" and her professional talent led Jennifer to an AI collaboration. The results are a positive treat for children and adults of all ages.

Astoria Artists at Work highlights local artists participating in the 16th annual Astoria Open Studios Tour, a free public event taking place July 25–26. More than 50 artists invite the public into their studios, showcasing Astoria's vibrant arts community. The exhibition features a diverse range of artists and media that visitors can experience during the tour. Meet the artists during a reception from 4:00 - 7:00pm.

Ally Bruser's latest work reflects on a world in transition. Through her signature hand-built ceramic forms, Bruser invites viewers to consider how loss and hope can coexist during times of profound change. "We are living through a time of crisis and transformation. The systems that may have served us at one time no longer do. We mourn the loss of the old world while we welcome in the new. How do we hold both feelings of loss and hope at the same time?" Bruser explores that question through modern forms and intentional negative space, creating a sense of absence as much as presence. Together, the works invite reflection on transformation, reminding us that hope is not found beyond loss, but shaped alongside it. Meet Ally from 5:00–7:00 p.m.m.

For July, we welcome back Matthew Dennison and his latest series, Mapping Ontology. He brings a new collection of paintings that will include three distinct styles and interests while incorporating reclaimed materials, further employing a sense of nostalgia. His use of color, hyper-pigmented primaries also add to content within sharply defined form. Mapping Ontology holds focus on the human figure and will include “Book Cover” paintings, portraits painted to vintage book covers, figurative paintings, painted to 100 year old door frames and a new series of his narrative paintings where the stories tell themselves, all while considering philosophical practices on the nature of being. Matthew will be at the gallery during artwalk from the hours of 5 - 8 pm and available to answer questions about his work and process. The show will remain on view through August 3rd.

To honor the 100th anniversary of the Astoria Column, Jadene has created a work called "Astoria Column Celebration." Jadene lives in Astoria and now has her studio in the back of her shop. All items in Jadene Studios are made by Jadene. Open Noon to 6:30 PM

"Realms of Perception: Photographic Dualities" features an exceptional group of artists, all of whom are advanced alumni students of Susan Burnstine. From earning a Guggenheim Fellowship to being named among Photolucida’s Top 50 in Critical Mass, each artist stands out for a truly distinctive vision. Terry Thompson and Jim Fitzgerald have combined forces giving rise to their exhibition known as "Winter: Y 2 Y" (Yellowstone to Yosemite). Their images capture the feeling of light, bitter cold and the subtle details of their environments, and are presented as Platinotypes and carbon transfer contact prints. I moved a few doors south - 120 10th. The exhibit is filled with large works, with some medium-sized pieces that are greatly influenced by surrealism, impressionism, and a deranged mind - my impression of the universe.

The Printed Garden features Gail Owen's linoleum relief prints inspired by the lush natural surroundings of the Pacific Northwest. In a profusion of blooms and foliage, she captures the botanical rhythms of garden and landscape, translating them into vibrant, graphic compositions. Her large-format works are created from individual prints stitched together to form compelling repeat patterns that accentuate the natural form of each botanical element. In Clowning Around, Lisa Sofia Robinson's introspective paintings reveal cabaret and circus performers offstage after the lights go down. She turns to the female form to express vulnerability and the emotional burden of the roles we are compelled to play and the masks we wear. Dawson (Sonn Washed) Carter: North Coast based, self-taught painter and parent of three, I discovered my passion for acrylics after my son won a contest. Balancing a full-time job and family life, I explore urban spots, nature, the coast, and pop art. I am simply enjoying the journey of learning and creating.

Inspired by Sarah Hammond’s experience with memory loss, Silhouettes of Memory explores how memories change over time. The fluid movement represents the emotions of memory, while the silhouetted figures represent the people, places, and moments that remain long after the details have faded. Drawing mischievous inspiration from the Oregon coast, April Graham’s ceramics capture The Shape of Summer, Salt, & Sunshine through functional pottery infused with charm, irreverence and wit. Every piece is individually crafted to encourage daily use while adding comfort, conversation, and a sense of joy to the home.

David Fondren is a mixed media artist, costume maker and writer. He has strong interests in collaboration and community events. He enjoys taking everyday objects and creating unique nature inspired pieces to be enjoyed far beyond the natural span of "throw away society". He believes that art is a human right to expression and works to promote other local artists in their creative process'. The C.O.A.R Residency is a major inspiration for much of his work.

Local Artist & founder of Salty Raven Seasons Kaz Sparks will be live painting throughout the day & evening & on-site to sign books; answer questions; & generally share her art. \"My art mission is to bring the positive energy & transformative power of nature & the Oregon Coast into the daily lives of others through my artwork; writing; & photography. Missy StRain is an Astoria-based artist known for luminous paintings of local architecture and pop culture using reclaimed LCD screens and India ink. Her work celebrates Astoria's history through a unique blend of nostalgia, innovation, and storytelling. Open 11 am to 10 pm
